The honey itself is pure, raw honey that is protected and cared for in the most pristine and largely untouched part of New Zealand
Ruapuke Island is located 23 kilometers (9.3 mi) to the southeast of Bluff and 32 kilometers (20 mi) northeast of Oban on Stewart Island/Rakiura. Surrounded by rocks and reef this now unpopulated island once homed 2000 Maori, including Kai Tahu Chiefs, Tuhawaiki (Bloody Jack) and John Topi Patuki. Noted for two important and early industries for New Zealand, Ruapuke harvested fur from seals and harakeke/flax fibre.
